Alexandra Oval Reserve Precinct Master Plan
The Alexandra Oval Reserve Committee of Management has been working with Council on a coordinated approach for the future planning and development of the Alexandra Oval Reserve precinct. The proposed development of the Alexandra Oval Reserve Precinct presents an exciting opportunity that has the capacity to benefit all sectors of the Ararat community, generating many economic and social returns. Ultimately the intent of the master plan is to develop Alexandra Oval Reserve precinct as “Council’s premier outdoor sporting precinct incorporating football, cricket, tennis, netball and other like future uses”. Hockey has already been accepted as a future user of the precinct and has been included into the Master Plan.
The Alexandra Oval Reserve precinct is an important meeting place for the local community and is home to a number of sporting and community activities. It is a highly utilised sport and recreation facility that caters for cricket, football, netball, tennis, athletics and also provides an important community space for a number of events and community activities. The master plan for the reserve precinct specifically focuses on providing regional sports infrastructure for the community.
The Master Plan has the capacity to benefit all sectors of the Ararat community, generating many economic and social returns. The Master Plan is a five to 10-year plan for the Alexandra Oval Reserve precinct that has identified current community need and future development strategies and is the result of much research and community consultation. The implementation of the Master Plan will need to be broken down into a number of manageable stages. Significant funding from a number of partners including State, Federal and Local Government and the local community will be required to see the Master Plan come to fruition.
